Farmstay, Wine, Organic Produce
A secluded place of escape and warm hospitality.
The Farm
What produce is grown at Burnside Organic Farm? The McCall family grow or produce avocados, grapes, honey and capers. All these products are available in season exclusively for guests staying in the farm bungalows. Avocado picking season is October – December. During this time we have a stall at the Margaret River Farmers’ Market, where there quality avocados, honey, capers and wine are available for purchase. The grapes are made naturally into wine in our onsite winery, using traditional and low intervention methods, letting the wine express the terroir. Please click here to buy wine. Free delivery. Guests who stay in the self-contained bungalows can pick from our family vegetable garden. Lara and Jamie are always happy to show bungalow guests what is season and give advice on how to pick and cook.

About Burnside Organic Farm
Jamie and Lara have lived and worked at Burnside Organic Farm since 1997.
Previously Jamie worked as a pearl diver and sailor before studying journalism. After several years as a journalist Jamie turned his skills to woodworking and started a furniture making business. Lara previously worked as an economist and stockbroker. After starting a family Jamie & Lara decided to work together and established Burnside Organic Farm.
They have three young adult sons. Two are studying and one has his own online personal strength coaching business. They all come back regularly to help with seasonal work, like pruning the vineyard. At different times guests will be hosted by Max, Ned or Dan as they help. The original vineyard is called “Three Boys” as they spent hours playing in the dirt as Jamie & Lara planted the vineyard. All that experience has paid off and they are all accomplished cellar hands and vineyard workers.
Jamie and Lara enjoy doing volunteer work and being involved with community and school groups. They are also pleased to be involved with the Margaret River Farmers’ Market, the Bush Fire Brigade, Margaret River TAFE and Fair Harvest
Jamie & Lara both work full time on the property farming, making and selling wine and looking after guests staying in the bungalows. They also devote time to growing food for their family. Jamie and Lara are self-sufficient in meat, eggs, vegetables, fruit, honey and wine.
The farm has been certified organic for over 18 years. Recently Jamie and Lara swapped certifying bodies to Demeter Australia. The highest level of biodynamic certification in Australia. Demeter encourages closed loop systems, looking after soil, animals in systems and farmers helping farmers.
When relaxing they like to do anything that involves the natural environment, food, wine, friends, community and fun. They both enjoy surfing, stand up paddling, diving, walking, cooking and preserving food.
They enjoy sharing their special farm in Margaret River and can help you plan your perfect holiday. Please don’t hesitate to email Jamie & Lara if you have any question
